I have spent a considerable amount of my wages on retro games over the years, although this collecting habit of mine has slowed down somewhat in recent times, owing to my tightened game budget and because of prices soaring.

It was a lot of money but it was a game I really, really wanted at the time as I believe it pushed the Neo Geo to its limits, and because I enjoyed the first game (which set me back €110 excluding postage). Was that worth it? Again it’s a game I play regularly enough and I don’t feel, even after all these years, that I have completely mastered it. This is the most I paid for a game completely out of my own pocket. I also spent about €130 (plus €25 p&p) on a copy of The Last Blade 2 for the Neo Geo AES about seven years ago. I could sell it and play it on Xbox Live Arcade, but it just wouldn’t be the same! As a Saturn enthusiast, it really is an essential purchase. I still play it regularly because of its immense challenge, excellent soundtrack, and interesting gameplay mechanics. This was about six or so years ago and most of the money was given to me as a gift for Christmas. But as soon as the beast is slain, a troop of the empire arrives, kills the survivors and takes possession of the young girl. Neither one nor two our hero rushes into the battle and, during it, Edge discovers a young girl embedded in a stone slab. During this surveillance, the guards are attacked by a beast of the old age. The story begins like this: you play as Edge, a young boy who is responsible for monitoring a mine.
